¥12,000 for two drinks and a "table fee" i didn't know existed

the menu said ¥2,500 per drink. so i'm thinking ¥5,000 right. then the bill came with a ¥7,000 table fee that was apparently mandatory and listed nowhere visible 💸 paid it because i was tired and didn't want drama. is this just how some places in shinjuku work or is table fee without disclosure actually illegal here. genuinely asking
