got cancelled on twice in one night - is this normal??

first booking: confirmed, waited 45 mins, got a call, cancelled. tried a second service: same thing 🙃 no explanation either time beyond "sorry cannot." had cash ready, hotel was fine, wasn't rude on the call. third time worked but i wasted almost 2 hours. is double cancellation a known thing or did i just have the worst luck
