what's the most awkward language barrier moment you've had on a night out in japan

heading to shinjuku next week, zero japanese, not sure how the whole thing works when there's a real language gap 🙏 read that some places manage okay with foreigners but couldn't find anything recent. is it mostly pointing at menus and hoping for the best or is there an actual process. any firsthand experience from people who went in completely cold appreciated
